Great communication from the time of booking and throughout our visit. I very much hope to return one day!

A great place to stay. Wonderful host with lots of little extras in the pantry as well as a welcoming cosy fire when we arrived on a rather wild cold night.

We all enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep in comfy beds. A good base close to Lady Barron township. The rooms were large, clean and very well supplied.

The view over the water was constantly before our eyes, one can easily walk the 2 kilometres into Lady Barron to resupply at the shop or eat at the Tavern.

We were not disadvantaged by being at the southern end of the Island. We obtained some fresh fish from Tim and he at all times made sure we did not need anything.

The atmosphere and comfort of the cottage was added to at night by a wood fire. We would recommend Swan Cottage very much but hope there are vacancies so we can stay again.

Clean, spacious, good location, with a great host who supplied fresh fish, breakfast provisions and useful tips for our time on Flinders. Great location Very clean and great hospitality Thanks Tim for lighting the fire every night for us.

We were delighted to arrive with the smell of freshly baking bread with a note to say please remove it from the bread baker at 2: What a well equipped, comfortable home away from home with everything we could possibly think of.

Green Valley Homestead was an excellent base for 4 sisters spending a week on Flinders Island. The kitchen is very well stocked in terms of equipment and breakfast supplies including fresh bread on arrival.

It is only 5 minutes from Whitemark which has a very well stocked IGA supermarket, a butcher and a couple of local produce suppliers.

We recommend you visit the visitor info centre as they have a variety of guides to local attractions, walks etc. Great home away from home, only a couple of minutes out of Whitemark!

We were greeted by the smell of freshly baked bread and all the home comforts you could require! It was good value for money perfect for a group or family.

This was such a comfortable and well-located cottage. The view is spectacular and it is convenient to the shop and tavern. There is plenty of space inside, the beds were super comfortable, the 70s decor very entertaining and we had everything we needed.

Very good value and highly recommended. A great place to sit and unwind, read and enjoy the stunning view. Everything was there that we needed in the kitchen and there was plenty of fire wood to keep us warm.

The house was very cosy, not a lot of heating required. We are definitely going back. A must is the gem collection across the road.

I bought a beautiful topaze. The wood heater is fantastic for the cool evenings. Having breakfast on the front verandah and looking out over the bay and the islands was fantastic.

Lady Barron is a good base for exploring the island. There is a well supplied store with great coffee and the Tavern - both virtually next door.

The house is a little different in character but user friendly. We were very happy with our choice. With the great weather that we had, the covered verandah was a lovely place to while away the time and an extensive collection of books in the sitting room means you can relax for many a happy hour in the garden.

The house itself is functional and the beds are comfortable. Greg was so Helpful with all his Tips! The house was great, plenty of room and right on the Beautiful Beach.

The house is within walking distance 1min to all the shops in Whitemark which is the main town. Highly recommend staying here!!

The house is literally across the road from the nice beach, not the best beach on Flinders by any means, bearing in mind the standard is extraordinarily high, but having a beach nearby was lovely.

Being a short walk from the supermarket, petrol station, pub and newsagency was really handy, and there are three good cafes within walking distance too.

Flinders Island is a beautiful, quiet place with friendly locals and an amazing array of stunning natural attractions. Wonderful place to stay, great house in a fantastic location.

Greg was terrific host making sure we had everything we needed and provided knowledge on the local area on what was on and places to visit.

Highly recommended staying here. A walk from the Interstate Hotel and the Providore where you can get the best coffee in town. Greg was very friendly and helpful with some local advice for us and the place was fully stocked with necessities and a couple of luxuries like fresh tomatoes from the back garden.

Greg went above and beyond to make sure that we felt at home and we really felt like a guest in his home and it well stocked with cooking amenities and even a bottle of wine on arrival.

He even took us on a drive to his farm which was great fun. Location at his place is right by the bay and minutes walk to the shops of Whitemark and a few minutes drive to the airport.

Great location and a fantastic place! Greg and Kath were fantastic at getting in touch as it was a last minute booking. Very helpful with information and accommodating.

Highly recommend their place! Echo Hills is a charming, airy cottage, well-appointed with all one could need, including a bread machine with supply of fresh flour and yeast.

Lots of peace and quiet - apart from the calls of numerous species of birds and the gentle lowing of nearby cattle. Note that the cottage is about 35 min away from shopping etc facilities in Whitemark, so you need to be a bit organised.

Also, the best swimming beaches are on the other, western, side of the island. Against that, EH is a great base for exploring the eastern side of the island - numerous inlets, lagoons and wetlands.

My mate and I had a wonderful time in the yurt! It was exactly what we wanted: The space was light and sufficiently warm with the gas heater we visited in mid-winter.

The kitchen was compact but well-equipped. Wifi could be accessed a few hundred metres away, and Telstra reception could be found walking around the property.

This was great for taking a technology holiday but with the practicality of being able to catch up with emails as needed. I appreciated the yoga mats, veranda with views to the sea, and the lovely property to explore.

Waking up to wombats grazing with the mountain above was blissful. So conveniently close to walking tracks and the beach! Thank you for the wonderful stay.

Truly a spectacular space set in an amazing place, waking up to wallabies and wombats outside the window, in a stunning location, and beautifully self-contained "yurt" set between the mountain and the sea.

The Yurt is clean and comfortable, and nature literally all around! Lila is quick and responsive in communication, and amazingly helpful.

Absolutely enjoyable setting, and I hope to return again soon! What a fantastic place to stay!! Such a wonderful, peaceful ambience staying in the large wooden yurt and a treat to be without wifi though can be arranged.

Very hospitable and helpful hosts and capped off by the magnificent sunsets over Chappel Island. Lila and Dave were great hosts - always there with information when we needed it and helpful in every way.

It was wonderful accommodation with every amenity - right in the bush with the wallabies and wombats, yet handy to town if we wanted to go there.

We hope to return one day. Thank you Lila and Dave. John and Karen provide a great three bedroom home which is modern, clean and has extra touches such as tennis racquets courts across the road , fishing rods, is three doors from the tavern which has delicious and reasonably priced meals.

Their home has quality furnishings, tableware and linen, and has extra touches vegemite, olive oil etc. We almost finished the cling wrap so replaced it.

We will be back. Lady Barren is a perfect place to base yourself when exploring this magnificent island. Fantastic position and view. The breakfast was unexpected and a vary pleasant surprise.

House was very clean. Highly recommend staying here. A great holiday house to stay while exploring Flinders Island. Fully equipped kitchen, spacious living areas and comfortable beds.

Just discovered the best house to stay at Lady Barron We [4 gents] thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay on F.

The house was , of course , our base while we explored the island. With the pub almost next door and the wharf across the road [only 2 whiting ] Lady Barron Villa is ideally located.

John and Karen even provided fishing rods and we caught quite a few squid at the local jetty, John was kind enough to show us how to fillet the fish we caught as well.

The house is modern and well appointed with everything you need. John was easily contactable and we had a wonderful Christmas break, thanks John and Karen.

Partridge Farm is a delightful place to stay and Lorraine and Rob are wonderfully welcoming hosts who help you enjoy the scenic Flinders.

This place was great and a lovely location with views to the sea. Lorraine was a great host and very helpful. The house was very comfortable and had everything that we needed!

The birds and wildlife were happy residents too. The house has everything we needed and more. It was light, bright and warm. It was clean and tidy but with lovely personal details like a well stocked pantry that added a layer of charm and comfort.

It was a perfect place from which to explore the island! The rooms were airy and spacious. The vegetable and herb garden was a special experience, to be able to pick some fresh tomatoes and zucchinis was a bonus.

A big thanks from our group who would not hesitate to stay there again. We had a great stay. Its a beautiful house and we were protected from the wind which was fierce!

We were part of a wedding group and it was actually the perfect location, in the middle of the island and conveniently close to the airport.

Liz was very accomnodating and flexible which we really appreciated. The house, especially the kitchen is a delight to be in, we especially enjoyed cooking on the wood stove.

And the outdoor shower! And the tomatoes from the veggy patch! This is the most beautiful place. Our hosts, Lila and David were warm, welcoming and provided beautiful food for breakfast, very thoughtfully provided us with tea, coffee, organic yoghurt and many other extras.

The Enchanted Walk is very special. Relaxing and dramatic at the same time. Thank you for being so hospitable.

Flinders Island is a very beautiful place to visit and there is nowhere on the island to stay that is better than this location.

The studio is a lovely secluded and unique space that sits in the bush amongst the trees and birds nestled close to the mountains of the national park.

The studio had all the facilities that we needed and our hosts were friendly and very helpful. Loved this place, we felt very welcome, relaxed and comfortable as soon as we arrived.

If you love wildlife then this is the place to go, wombats right on your doorstep. Mountain Seas is located at one of the most beautiful spots on Flinders Island which is high praise as there are many beautiful places on the island.

Could not recommend The Perch highly enough. A stunning home in a stunning location with access to an amazing beach and surrounded by Tasmanian wildlife.

The home itself is modern, light-filled and extremely comfortable. Fabulous house in a wonderful location.

Everything we needed was in the house. A great spot to get away and relax. Amazing home in an amazing location, it was everything we expected.

Diana also provided alot of local information which made our visit seamless and more enjoyable. We would not hesitate to stay at this home again.

Alliance-style decision, so do the right thing and choose the one with the penguin. Either way, these pre-paid travel cards make public transport a breeze.

Recharging them is simple, too, and can be done at ticket machines in train stations. Convenience stores, AKA konbinis, are plentiful in Japan.

There are onigiri rice balls with a wide variety of fillings, sandwiches, salads, fruit and a few different hot food options, from instant noodles and fried chicken to oden things like daikon radish, fish cakes, tofu and hard boiled eggs in a light soy broth , with some seasonal variation.

Plus, you can pay for everything with your Suica or Pasmo card. Many offer other services like purchasing tickets for events and ATMs, but the former will be next to impossible to navigate without help, while the latter brings us to our next tip….

Many Family Mart and Lawson convenience stores have compatible machines now too. In fact, while cards are widely accepted and you can do things like pay for clothes on a Suica card , Japan is still something of a cash society, so make sure you have plenty on you at all times.

The Greater Tokyo Area has something like 38 million people living in and around it, and a hub like Shinjuku station has a million people passing through it each day.

You can get almost anywhere in Tokyo using a combination of the subway systems and JR lines, and trains typically come every few minutes.

Not sure how to get somewhere? Want to check when express trains run? There are several good apps you can use. Traveling between cities is typically simple too, thanks to the shinkansen bullet train network.

It must be purchased before you get to Japan, however. You can try and pull through, for instance, at a club or a karaoke joint in a private room.

Some even have showers, which brings us to our next point…. Airbnb is worth investigating too, although the number of listings has dropped significantly since new legislation came into effect in requiring hosts to jump through a number of legal hoops.

These are relatively common in major metropolitan areas and are certainly affordable. Some are for men only, for instance, while others have separate floors for men and women.

Exposed tattoos are a no-no so be sure to keep them covered if you have them, or risk being ejected. Your budget may vary, obviously, but I generally feel like I get good value.

Japanese people will often go out of their way to help you if you ask. Not only does Japan still have video game arcades, but they come in all shapes and sizes.

Your average Club SEGA, for instance, has a bunch of different floors, all catering to specific audiences and demographics.

There may be UFO Catchers on the ground floor, then a floor for rhythm games, one for fighting games, one for medal games and card-based strategy games, and one for purikura photo booths.

There are just so many things to check out within these arcades, from multiplayer mech games to arcade versions of popular mobile titles.

And all these floors and sub-genres appeal to different types of people, ensuring that even if one area of the arcade loses popularity, other areas can help keep money coming in.

This insane five storey arcade is themed after the Kowloon Walled City , with a distressed, rusty, weather-beaten exterior, subterranean tunnels leading into and out of the arcade, and dilapidated buildings, storefronts and pipes inside.
